The Limited Edition MTN tour makes a stop in Chicago to award a unique can to the renowned wildstyler Asend.
“One of the main features of Chicago piecing is balance. When you look at a Chicago style you’ll notice there’s balance on the left on the right side of a piece. It’s just something that started in the 80s and you still see that influence today.”
Asend’s graffiti trajectory began in 1998. Known for his technical approach, Asend’s wildstyles exhibit well-balanced complexity and strong letter foundation. His versatility as a visual artist leads us on a journey from studio works in oil to large-scale murals – including the largest mural in the city of Chicago. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Asend continues to delve into multi-faceted projects that expand his reach within the inner-city community and walls throughout the globe.
“The main connection between graffiti and my mural work is the design. There’s other elements like detail and line work but whether you’re seeing a wild style or a mural you’re going to notice similarities in the way that I designed the work and just how I put everything together.”
