FINALLY: KOREA’S FIRST GRAFFITI SHOP

HOMI is a traditional fine arts store in Korea, a family business that has been importing MTN products since 2017. Since then, it has become one of our fastest-growing clients, recognizing the brand’s potential in their market (fine arts). Over time, they have been educated to understand our core business and familiarize themselves with graffiti culture, which in Korea is more closely linked to muralism since illegal graffiti in Seoul is heavily penalized.
In 2023, Eunsang visited our Australian subsidiary to learn how we operate, explore our distribution channels, and take a tour of various stores in Sydney and Melbourne to get inspired and gather ideas. His goal: to open Korea’s first graffiti shop.
“HOMI Cans officially opened its doors in November 2024, featuring a stunning display of spray cans and a spectacular façade intervention by Korean artist Royyal Dog, who is based in Los Angeles. Alongside him, Artime Joe, Xeva, and Wezt participated in an art exhibition in the shop’s gallery space.” – Bernat Escoriuela
We satisfied our curiosity by asking Eunsang Jo a few questions…
- How did the idea of opening a graffiti store come about?: At first, we wanted to create a graffiti store like the ones abroad, which didn’t exist in Korea. Our goal with HOMI CANS is to provide Korean artists with a convenient place where they can easily access materials and information in one location. Last year, we traveled to Australia and learned a lot from several graffiti stores with the help of Bernat and Jana.
- Why does the Korean graffiti scene need this type of business?: We believe there are many talented graffiti artists in Korea, and we felt the need to create a professional and creative space for them.
- Was there a prior connection with Royyal Dog that led to his façade intervention, or was he contacted from scratch?: When HOMI CANS was about to open, Royyal Dog happened to be in Korea and came to visit the store. So we asked him to paint the façade.

-
What makes this store unique?: HOMI CANS is Korea’s first and largest professional graffiti store, a DIY hub that not only sells spray cans and graffiti-related accessories but also offers products that can be applied in any color to furniture and accessories. Additionally, it features a gallery that further promotes artists' work and graffiti culture through exhibitions of local writers and artists.
The establishment aims to become a platform that widely promotes cultures and genres still unknown to many people. -
Where is the store located?: Located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, HOMI CANS sits between Hongdae and Sinchon, a popular tourist destination for young people and foreigners. You can find it by searching on Google:
