The Hannover mural festival Hola Utopia! Celebrates its second edition today, with 8 murals to be completed by international artists.
Hola Utopia! is a festival of new muralism with a difference. Each of the large-scale pieces produced from 23-29th August in Hannover is the result of a lengthy consultation process involving the neighbors, whose thoughts on the ideal future for our cities inform the designs produced by the artists.
Having successfully negotiated COVID-19 restrictions to complete their first edition, the team have assembled an international line-up to take on strategic facades around the Northern German City.
Spanish artists Yubia and Irene López León reinforce the ties between Hannover and Barcelona, whilst top German talent from the world of urban art will also be on show, in the form of Nasca, Anna T. Iron and Kartel. Collectives CUADRO FREZCA and Team D.O.T.U. will demonstrate the light that many hands can make, whilst Christof Mascher and Bart Sucharski lend the festival a degree of fine-art credibility.
Anyone around the festival will have the chance to buy an exclusive MTN Limited Edition aerosol designed by the artist Rookie The Weird, who produced the centerpiece wall during the inaugural edition of the event last year.
Hola Utopia! is an initiative of the Montana Colors Germany culture department and this year coincides with Urban Nature, another urban art event, to form the Hannover Urban Art week.
